Barca president Claim Negotiations with Alves Unfinished
Barcelona – Dani Alves is not certain to leave, according to Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Negotiations with the Brazilian defender is still held today.
Previously, the agent of Alves, Dinorah Santa Ana, was disappointed with the new contract talks with the club. He then stated that talks about a new contract is over and Alves will likely play at another club next season.
Alves current contract will expire on June 30. If not extended, the other clubs can get it for free. So far, there are two clubs are reportedly interested in Alves, the Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco.
However, Bartomeu refute that talks about a new contract has been completed. Kubu Barca still strive to maintain a 31-year-old defender.
“Problem Alves, talks unfinished,” said Bartomeu as reported by Marca.
“If Alves accept our offer, he will stay at Barca. Each person has their own strategy. Our strategy is prudence and will announce if the statement has reached an agreement,” he continued.
Alves joined Sevilla in 2008. He became a part of the success of the Guardiola era successful Barca won three La Liga trophies, two Copa del Rey trophies, two Champions League trophies, and two Club World Cup trophy.
This season, Alves has appeared 34 times in all competitions which followed Barca.
