Marcelo: El Clasico is not Determinants Champion title

Madrid – Approaching El Clasico, the distance between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the standings diminishing. But Madrid defender Marcelo, judging the game against Barca will not be the determinant of the La Liga title.

Madrid is still leading the league standings to jornada 25. Los Blancos at the top of the standings with 61 points.

But the benefits of Madrid over Barca in the standings trimmed last week. A draw against Villarreal plus Barca victory over Granada makes Madrid just two points clear of their arch enemies.

Two weeks away on March 22, Madrid and Barca will duel at Camp Nou. Seeing the intense competition in the standings, El Clasico mentioned will be decisive La Liga title.

But Marcelo did not agree with the assumption.

“It will be a key match, but likewise against Athletic (Bilbao) and Levante,” said Marcelo told O Globo quoted as saying the US.

“I think it (El Clasico) will not be decisive in the title,” said the Brazilian international defender added.

Before facing Barca, Madrid will be first against Athletic Bilbao (7/3), Schalke in the Champions League (10/3), and Levante (15/3).
